  1. Join me on Sunday July 17, as we focus our cameras on the rich and colorful community of Haverstraw, NY.

In this exciting and intensive 4 hour workshop, I will take the students into the streets of Haverstraw, exploring various concepts of lighting, angle, emotion and composition. Students will learn how to approach others with care and respect, and how to develop intimacy and trust with their subjects, perfecting the skills necessary for making powerful street and documentary photographs.

The class will meet at the Latin Star Restaurant located at 39 Broadway in Haverstraw, NY where students will watch a short slide presentation by Documentary Photographer Bruce Davidson whose “East 100th Street Project” will prepare them visually for what they will be shooting in the streets of Haverstraw.

Students should come to class equipped with a digital camera, 8 mega pixels or higher, and a reasonable working knowledge of their equipment, as this class will not be geared in any way toward learning to work the functions of the camera.

Students in my previous classes have been widely exhibited throughout Rockland County in The Gaga Arts Center, Edward Hopper House Art Center, Rockland Center for the Arts with published work appearing in The Journal News, Rivertown and Hudson Valley Magazines.

Tuition for the 4 hour workshop will be $100.00 and limited to 7 participants on a first come, first served basis. Limited scholarship funds are available based on financial need. Please contact our office at 845-429-8770 for more information.

We hope you can join us for this exciting journey into the wonderful light and magic of Haverstraw.

    With warm regards,

    Ken Karlewicz
