Believe it or not, HaverstrawLife.com has been up and running for five years! The blog went online back in February 2006, just as the revitalization in Haverstraw Village was gaining steam. Together, we’ve been through some great and hard times. A new neighborhood has blossomed on the South End and we’ve welcomed a number of new residents to the Village. We’ve also struggled through the Great Recession, hopefully re-emerging stronger than before. The future remains bright. We have a lot to look forward to over the next five years, such as a new ferry terminal at the base of Main Street, new restaurants and shops, a streetscape renovation, and the commercial and residential growth of our downtown and waterfront. If you’re a regular reader, feel free to contact me with suggestions or ideas for future HaverstrawLife posts. Keep reading and stay engaged!
Well the neighborhood has more potential but we’ve had lapses since 2006 like more drugs on our streets and crime… we need to clean the village up.
I think were only hearing more about the drugs. Before it was pushed under the rug. I tihnk the problems is beginning to be dealt with, and eventually the dealers will no that this is no place for them/. It’s definitely cleaning up. All the new people moving in prove that Haverstraw has a great future ahead.
I agree. There will always be more work to do in Haverstraw, even after the obvious problems are “cleaned up.” Still, compared to the 80s and 1990s, Haverstraw has come very far. The new restaurants (new bakery and hardware store, too) on Main Street/Broadway are really changing the downtown for the better.
Thanks for all the information on this site. Haverstraw is a desirable area.
