The farmers market is vital to the Greater Haverstraw Community.  It’s not just about healthy eating and buying fresh-picked, local produce, it’s about community building.  The market is a snapshot of local culture – a place where local residents can come together in a vibrant public space and share in the life of the community.  Haverstraw’s Harvest Farmers Market is the most affordable market in Rockland.

All of Rockland County is invited to come and shop, meet the producers and learn how their food is grown.  Donations of funds to help the market run, as well as volunteer efforts to assist in the operation of the market are needed and greatly appreciated.

The market will also participate in the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) which provides benefits to low-income WIC families and seniors.  Haverstraw’s Harvest Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 9a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maple Avenue & New Main Street in Haverstraw Village, rain or shine, from June 12th to October 30th, 2011.

Sponsored by the Greater Haverstraw Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Haverstraw.

  1. Eating healthy for less money while supporting low-income WIC families and seniors are killing two birds with one stone! Haverstraw’s Harvest Farmers Market is really the most affordable market in all Rockland. It needs to be more advertised and supported by our community. Let’s give it our full support!
I am proud to be a member of the Greater Haverstraw Chamber of Commerce and of RenewHaverstraw,Haverstraw Residents Working Together for a Better Village.

  2. I made it to the farmer’s market last weekend. I got over a pound of string beans, two cloves of garlic, green onions, scallions, and a tomato for $5. You can’t really beat that anywhere else. Myriam is right. Give it a shot. Support the community.

  3. For a while, my faith in Haverstraw was waning. Lots of promises and plans for change, and nothing but higher taxes. I’m excited that there are Haverstraw residents out there cultivating the dream of a renewed and gentrified village. It’s contagious. I’d like to get involved. I’m starting by attending village board meeting next week. I’m cultivating the dream too. That’s why I moved here.

  4. Thanks Michelle! The Farmer’s Market was the first time in a long time that I got really excited about Haverstraw’s future. Seeing all the familiar faces and the excitement among everyone that attended was an incredible experience!

  5. Check back at HaverstrawLife.com for some updates to the Market on the 19th. Something new is happening at the market. FREE SPACE is available for anyone looking to be part of the HUGE Community Tag Sale that the market is sponsoring. Sell your stuff, and find unique pieces at the market!

  6. This year will be even better. I am dying to see a cheese vendor and more prepared foods since I don’t like to cook. Please everyone come and support the Market. So much hard work goes into making it happen every week. Support local businesses and farms. The best thing about it is all the people I got to meet last year.

  7. I’m excited that Whitecliff Winery is trying us out. Now’s the time to stock up! We’re also keeping our fingers crossed for a grass-fed beef and free range meat vendor. We have one interested, but it’s all about how many folks come out!
Hope to see you all there!
